International Illegal Image Search

This bit of innovation was spawned from the discovery that our images were being used in unauthorized online locations. They wanted to know where they were obtaining the images and if there was a way to stop them from stripping our sites. The first thing I did was a reverse image search using the Google reverse image lookup. I was able to quickly discover numerous locations where the image was being used as well as our owned property usage.

After showing the team the discovery and how they too could find this information, I made a rough user flow of how we could automatically run a report to find these illegal images. Working with our internal development team they were able to customize a reverse image look-up using Google Custom Search. This lead to the following workflow.

Ultimately this innovation lead to the ability to proactively find illegal images protecting our brand and customers from bad actors.

Using this portal the international teams could upload our protected images and they would be ran through the custom API and report their website usage. Once the image was uploaded the team had the ability to run the entire repository to report usage.
