The Copper Force project brief called for an educational, visually striking series of illustrations with a scientific edge without going over the heads of the consumer. Being a curious mind and a forever student I started by researching scientific drawings of Copper elements and supplied some original concept drawings. However these were considered too technical and not for the average consumer. The product team wanted the illustrations to have the feel of Copper ions being injected into the paint, a “protective layer of copper elements” on the surface, and a depiction of the grid destroying a SARS-CoV-2 virus on contact.
Later that year I was working with someone from the lab group on another project and they asked me why I created a “graphene” structure on the paint? Immediately affirming my original fears I paused, had a good laugh, and said “I tried”.
