Behr.com Hotspots

During my time at Behr I have developed many different innovative “features” to new or existing digital properties. The number one question since the first website launch in 2003 was “What color is that”? When I was concepting the new look for Behr.com I incorporated a feature that I coined “Hotspots”. The idea was to satisfy the customers overwhelming common question but also allow Behr to sell samples direct from the website adding the first iteration to ecommerce on the digital platform.

Animated features to attract user attention.
These features might seem common place these days but they are mentioned because of the timing they were put in place especially at an enterprise level. While the visual marketing within the internet was still struggling I was able to bring a level of artistry to the platform including real-life simulating animation features. As depicted here an interior room appearing to have an active burning fireplace.

This one was fun project to do. In partnership with Disney the teams created themed character kid’s rooms. I was responsible for creating the web assets from the photoshoot. Using a standalone particle effects emitter I created the glowing trail and layered this into a flash along with some lighting effects that were created in Photoshop. (The original flash file was optimized down to less than 400kb)
